“Our goal is to empower Hispanic women entrepreneurs by providing them with the necessary resources and connections to succeed in the hospitality and tourism sectors,” says Baigorria. “We firmly believe that women play a crucial role in the transformation and sustainability of the tourism industry in Miami, and we want to be a significant force in driving that potential.”
The CAMACOM Tourism Committee will focus on promoting initiatives that continue to drive this growth, supporting local businesses, and ensuring that Miami remains a destination of choice for both national and international visitors.
Tourism in Miami has shown remarkable recovery and growth following the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2022, the city received over 26.5 million visitors, including 19.2 million overnight tourists, generating more than $20.8 billion in revenue. This increase represents an 8% growth in tourism revenue compared to the previous year and a notable 15% growth over the pre-pandemic figures of 2019, when Miami received approximately 24.2 million visitors.
This growth not only highlights Miami’s resilience as a tourist destination but also its economic importance. The revenue generated by tourism significantly contributes to the local economy, accounting for almost 40% of all sales taxes collected. These funds are essential for financing schools, public transportation, healthcare, and other vital services in the city.
